What we hold, and why.

What we collect

If you join the marketplace waitlist we keep your email address, and whichever of these you chose to give us: your name, your city, the kind of role you have, what you do or hire, and a link to your work. Only the email address is required.

If you send an enquiry we keep your name, your email address, the type of project, and your message.

When you browse the site we count the visit. We do not use cookies, we do not record your IP address, and we do not build a profile of you. A random reference is held in your browser for the length of the tab and is gone when you close it, so the count cannot follow you between visits or to any other site. It is a tally of pages, not of people.

Why we collect it

The waitlist exists so that we can tell you when the Rage Inc. Marketplace opens, and so that we open it with the right categories and in the right cities. Enquiries exist so we can answer them. The visit counts tell us which pages are worth keeping.

Giving us any of it is voluntary. If you give us nothing you can still read every page of this site; you simply will not hear from us when the marketplace opens.

Marketing is a separate question

Telling you that the marketplace has opened is the thing you asked us to do, and we will do it. Anything beyond that — news, offers, other Rage Inc. launches — only happens if you ticked the box asking for it. That tick is recorded with the date, it is never assumed, and every email we send has a way out of it. You can also just reply and say stop.

Who else sees it

Nobody buys this from us and nobody is given it to use for their own purposes. Two suppliers process it on our behalf, and only to run this site:

• Google (Cloud Firestore), which stores the waitlist and enquiries
• Cloudflare, which serves the site and passes those submissions through

Both keep data on servers outside South Africa, which POPIA permits where the receiving party is bound to a comparable standard of protection. Both are contractually bound to process it only on our instructions.

How long we keep it

Waitlist details are kept until the marketplace has opened and for twelve months after that, or until you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first. Enquiries are kept for as long as we may still need them for the work they relate to. Visit counts are aggregated and hold nothing that points at a person.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to us using it. You do not have to give a reason, and it costs nothing. Email hello@rageincworld.com and we will act on it.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled that, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
